Fight Choreography
Hand to hand Combat and intimacy have more in common than you might assume.
While the end goals are different, both forms of movement require an emphasis on safety, understanding the body and a performer’s needs, and flexibility from the choreographer and creative team. The most brilliant, jaw-dropping fight choreography often stems from suggestions from performers, which I then sculpt into movement that works perfectly in the final scene. This autonomy granted to performers, paired with my collaborative approach, leads to happy, empowered performances through a highly impactful and safe process.
As a fight choreographer, I have the capacity to teach both complicated sequences for life performance and safety workshops to allow participants to execute combat in improvised settings. This adaptability has allowed my work to translate beautifully to Live Action Role Play and enhanced the ways that actors use their bodies and craft in theatrical settings. I place the needs of performers first in my work, and do everything in my power to bring their skills and needs into alignment with a director’s vision.
